MaacVerify holds its clients to a rigorous AI performance standard. This role exists to make sure MaacVerify is held to the same standard from the inside out. Internally, you will build and maintain MaacVerify's own governance framework, ensuring our AI use, policies, and certification practices meet the same regulatory expectations we apply to the enterprises we assess. Externally, you own two mandates: ensuring every certification artifact MaacVerify delivers is defensible to the regulatory bodies, auditors, and legal teams our clients answer to; and building the professional consensus that makes a MaacVerify certification mean something in the broader compliance community. You will work as part of a core governance team alongside the Founder and CEO, General Counsel, and Head of Quality and Certification Operations. This is a founding equity position. Candidates must be comfortable in an equity-forward, pre-revenue environment with a defined conversion path to salary.
What you will do
- Internal Governance: Build MaacVerify's internal AI governance framework — policies, independence safeguards, conflict-of-interest protocols, and compliance posture as a certification body.
- Internal Governance: Collaborate with the Head of Quality and Certification Operations to ensure all certification artifacts meet regulatory defensibility standards.
- Internal Governance: Work directly with the CEO and General Counsel as a core governance team on all governance decisions.
- Regulatory Framework Alignment: Build and maintain formal alignments mapping MAAC's nine assessment dimensions to compliance evidence requirements across healthcare, financial services, and legal.
- Regulatory Framework Alignment: Develop evidentiary documentation standards that allow MaacVerify certifications to function as compliance artifacts in regulatory proceedings, audit responses, and legal disclosures.
- Regulatory Framework Alignment: Monitor and interpret the EU AI Act, FDA AI/ML guidance, OCC SR 11-7, FINRA Rule 3110, and SEC AI risk disclosure requirements and translate developments into framework updates in real time.
- Regulatory Framework Alignment: Develop sector-specific compliance positioning materials for consulting firm partners and future licensees.
- Professional Community Engagement: Build MaacVerify's credibility within professional compliance and governance communities through publications, white papers, and conference presentations at HCCA, SCCE, ACFE, ISACA, ABA, and IEEE.
- Professional Community Engagement: Engage directly with standards organizations and regulatory agencies including NIST, FDA, SEC, OCC, FTC, and the EU AI Office to advance recognition of the MAAC framework as a credible verification standard.
- Professional Community Engagement: Represent MaacVerify in regulatory comment letter processes, public consultations on AI governance rulemaking, and industry working groups.
- Professional Community Engagement: Build sustained relationships with CROs, CCOs, General Counsel, and compliance practitioners at regulated enterprises, advisory firms, and RegTech organizations.
What we are looking for
- Deep expertise in AI governance, regulatory compliance, or responsible AI in healthcare, financial services, pharma, or legal; working knowledge across at least two sectors required.
- Demonstrated professional credibility: prior publications, conference presentations, regulatory body participation, or standards working group involvement.
- Existing professional network among compliance practitioners, regulatory affairs professionals, or governance advisors; the external mandate requires someone who already has standing in the field.
- Working knowledge of major AI regulatory frameworks and comfort engaging their authors and interpreters directly: EU AI Act, FDA AI/ML guidance, OCC SR 11-7, FINRA, SEC AI risk disclosure requirements.
- Ability to translate regulatory language into compliance positioning materials and documentation standards without requiring outside legal support for routine interpretive decisions.
- Experience collaborating at the leadership level across legal, quality, and governance functions.
- Comfort in the independent assessor's identity: rigorous, publicly accountable, and structurally separate from AI vendors and consultants.
- This is a founding equity position. Candidates must be comfortable in an equity-forward, pre-revenue environment with a defined conversion path to salary.
Compensation
Founding roles are equity-compensated during launch, with a contractual path to salary: a defined revenue trigger converts each role to a market-anchored base salary with benefits, plus a milestone equity grant that vests at conversion. Equity-first now, salaried later, on documented terms rather than promises.
